Who We Are, What We Do, And Why We Do It!

YazooZazz--Robin, Jeanine, and Kathy--share a passion for the music of the famous "sisters" acts. The music of the Boswell Sisters and the Andrews Sisters, as well as others,  provide the inspiration for YazooZazz.

YazooZazz works regularly with the Tom Cunningham Orchestra (tomcunningham.com).  Tom has made vocal groups a permanent part of his orchestra since 1983.  This incarnation of YazooZazz debuted with the Orchestra in November 2013 and just a few short weeks later rang in 2014 to nearly 7,000 happy revelers at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.   They continue to perform with the orchestra for the regular monthly dances at Glen Echo Park (glenechopark.org) and at various venues in and around the greater Washington, DC area.

YazooZazz also performs with a smaller ensemble of musicians at area jazz clubs, festivals, music series and private events.

In October 2014, YazooZazz was pleased to join with several trios from around the world, including Spain, Australia, Canada, Israel as well as trios from Seattle, New York, and New Orleans to celebrate the music of the Boswell Sisters in their home town, New Orleans.

Something you're sure to notice when you see YazooZazz perform are the hats. From the beautiful to the "little bit crazy," the hats add to the joy that exudes as they pay homage to those talented female trios of the 1930s and 1940s.
